General Questions
What AI models does Typeform use?
We use best-in-class AI providers including OpenAI (GPT-4), Google Cloud AI, and Anthropic Claude. We select models based on the specific task to ensure the best performance, accuracy, and privacy protection.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. Your form data and responses are never used to train AI models. We have zero-retention agreements with our AI providers, meaning your data is processed for your use case only and then immediately discarded.
Which plans include AI features?
- Basic: AI Form Builder only
- Plus: AI Form Builder + Clarify with AI
- Business: All Creator AI and Interaction AI features
- Enterprise: Full AI suite including Insights AI and custom controls
Can I disable AI features?
Yes. AI features can be disabled at the account level or per individual form. You have complete control over which forms use AI.
Does AI work in all languages?
Most features work in 25+ languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, and more. AI Form Translator supports translation between all supported languages.
AI Form Builder
How does AI Form Builder work?
You describe your form’s purpose in natural language (e.g., “Create an event registration form”), and AI generates a complete form with appropriate question types, logic, and design. You can then edit and customize as needed.
Can AI build any type of form?
AI works best for common use cases like surveys, registrations, feedback forms, lead generation, and quizzes. For highly specialized forms, AI provides a strong starting point that you can refine.
How accurate are AI-generated forms?
AI-generated forms are typically 80-90% ready to publish. Most users make minor adjustments to wording, add branding, or tweak logic flows.
Interaction AI
What is Clarify with AI?
Clarify with AI allows respondents to ask questions while completing your form. AI provides instant answers based on your form context and uploaded knowledge base, reducing confusion and drop-offs.
Does Clarify with AI increase completion rates?
On average, forms with Clarify with AI see 15-25% improvement in completion rates, especially for longer or complex forms.
How does Dynamic Follow-up Questions work?
AI analyzes each response in real-time and generates contextual follow-up questions. For example, if someone reports low satisfaction, AI automatically asks what caused the dissatisfaction.
Insights AI
What is Ask AI?
Instead of manually analyzing data, you can ask questions in plain English like “What are the top complaints?” and get instant answers with visualizations.
How does qualitative analysis work?
AI reads all open-text responses, identifies common themes, performs sentiment analysis, and surfaces the most important insights—like having a research analyst review hundreds of responses instantly.
What if AI’s analysis is wrong?
AI provides confidence scores for its insights. You can always view the underlying data and adjust interpretations. Think of AI as an assistant that speeds up analysis, not a replacement for human judgment.
Data & Privacy
Where is my data stored?
By default, data is stored in US data centers (AWS). EU data residency is available for Business and Enterprise plans. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Is Typeform AI GDPR compliant?
Yes. We’re fully GDPR compliant, with Data Processing Agreements available. AI features respect all data subject rights including right to be forgotten.
What happens when I delete a form?
All form data, responses, and AI-generated content are permanently deleted within 30 days. We also confirm deletion with third-party AI providers.
Technical Questions
Are there API endpoints for AI features?
Yes. Business and Enterprise plans can access AI capabilities via API, including form generation, analysis, and insights extraction.
What are the rate limits for AI features?
Rate limits vary by plan:
- Plus: 50 AI requests/day
- Business: 500 AI requests/day
- Enterprise: Custom limits
Can I integrate AI insights with my BI tools?
Yes. AI insights can be exported to CSV, Excel, or sent directly to data warehouses and BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Google Data Studio.
